General description

Lumpi is 31 years old. He passed his vehicle inspection with flying colors in July 2025

—valid through June 2027. He also passed the gas inspection. For this, the

stove was removed, cleaned, and reinstalled—the original invoice for about 450 € is on

original copy. And in 2023, all regulators and lines were replaced. It makes

a good idea to replace these at least every ten years. The tires were also replaced in 2023

, so it is still permitted to drive on the highway at speeds up to 100 km/h

(possible with tires no older than six years)—an invoice for 300 € is

of course on file. Three years ago (2022), we had the three windows in the

rear round seating area replaced for €1,200. The following year, we had the two

front side windows replaced, as well as the aging door handle

(€1,600). This means there is now one older drawbar window and one

older kitchen window.

The trailer is designed to accommodate up to five people. The cozy, spacious

seating area, where six people can sit comfortably and eight people can sit if they “squeeze in”

, converts into a large bed. At the front is the “kids’ room,”

which can also be separated by a sliding door. Here, on the left, there is a very

small seating area with two seats on the left that can be converted into a bed.

Opposite is a bunk bed.

There’s plenty of storage space: compartments in the front and back above the seating areas and beds.

In the middle of the trailer, there is a wardrobe and a tall cabinet

with shelves.

The “bathroom” has a toilet, a sink, and a small cabinet.

There’s also a track for a shower curtain in the ceiling. A shower can

be reinstalled if needed; I had only replaced a simple faucet here.

The kitchen has a three-burner stove, a small refrigerator with a mini

freezer compartment, as well as a sink, a drawer, and a base cabinet. The furniture

was painted by us and is made of solid wood. At 1,500 kg, Lumpi isn’t exactly

light, but he still looks good today.

Lumpi is self-sufficient. It has a 12-volt battery on board that charges while driving.

There’s also a gas water heater (though

hot-water faucets would need to be reinstalled). This is perfect for trips with spontaneous

overnight stays, this is perfect: You’re independent of external power, can use the

use the toilet, and even wash up with warm water. The fresh water tank

holds about 45 liters, and the wastewater tank holds about 20 liters.

We spent two weeks traveling through northern Germany this summer—it all works

. The heating system was also inspected during the gas inspection and works

perfectly.

Accessible from the outside, there’s space on the drawbar for two gas cylinders as well as other

tools and equipment. There’s also an externally accessible compartment for seating

and other camping gear. All the benches inside offer additional storage space.

Inside, we installed new laminate flooring four years ago (the original linoleum floor is

the original linoleum floor), repainted the trim and surfaces,

and replaced all the upholstery and mattresses with new ones (€1,200).

The kitchen is well-equipped with pots, plates, and essential travel tableware.

Now for the known issues, which are normal for a 1994 travel trailer:

• The trailer is currently dry, but there used to be leaks at the back of the roof.

The corners have been sealed with tar tape. It doesn’t look great, but it holds.

• The old seals from 1994 could be removed and the caravan resealed with Dekasyl

.

• In the spring of 2018, three leaky skylights were removed and re-sealed.

They’ve been watertight ever since, but marks are visible on the ceiling.

• A previous satellite dish was removed. The drill holes were filled with Dekasyl

and covered with tar tape.
